Sara Hughes

I worked for the NHS for 30 years helping people achieve their goals using systems-based approaches. With a Masters in Information Systems and a career in performance and healthcare programme management, I'm expertly placed to support people of all ages to improve performance and wellbeing by understanding the whole system rather than treating isolated symptoms.

 

I'm used to navigating complexity - working with individuals, teams and organisations to identify what was really getting in the way of change, and designing practical, sustainable pathways forward. This systems thinking underpins my work in kinesiology, where I support you to understand how physical symptoms, stress, emotions, beliefs and life experiences interact within the body via the acupuncture meridians.

 

My approach is calm, compassionate and centred around you.

I'm particularly drawn to working with people who feel they have “tried everything”, who don’t quite fit standard models, or who sense that their body is communicating something that hasn’t yet been fully understood but are ready to do the work to change it.

My focus is on supporting you to reconnect with your innate capacity for balance, resilience and self-regulation.  

 

Combining my NHS experience with Professional Kinesiology Practice, a specialist emotional and metaphysical kinesiology, I offer a grounded space where insight meets embodiment. I work with adults and children to support performance, recovery, emotional regulation and overall wellbeing - always respecting your individual pace, story and unique system.

 

For me, meaningful change happens when people feel safe, seen and supported to work with their body rather than against it.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

Balance Process

CLIENT HISTORY

Here's what happens during a Kinesiology session!

Your first session can last up to 1.5 hours, depending on the type of balancing required, with a detailed case history taken at the start.  

 

The client history form will be sent to you to complete ahead of us meeting face to face, allowing you plenty of time to consider your responses.

I encourage you to provide as much information as you can. Not only in relation to current symptoms but also your diet, significant life events, past accidents, illnesses, surgery and emotional stress that may be keeping you stuck.

 

Even if you have dealt with these emotional issues during previous counselling or psychotherapy sessions.

I help you formulate an appropriate goal for the issue you wish to work on, and guide you through the balancing process.

 

You’ll be required to take away any actions that come up for you during the sessions, so that the benefits can be fully maintained and supported.

THE BALANCE

We set up a clear muscle response to ensure a balanced ‘Indicator Muscle’ (IM). An IM is fundamental to asking questions of the subconscious without the client having to say anything.  This preps your body for me to ask Yes/No questions throughout the session and indicate which corrections are required.​

We refine the goal; identifying issues that are stopping you from achieving your desired outcome, quantifying the degree of stress this is causing, and the energy you have to put towards it before and after any corrections.

​​I test relevant reflexes to show clearly which ones are stressed in relation to your goal. These include ocular (eye positions), vestibular (ear/ balance) and gait reflexes.

You show or tell me the specific things you struggle with or can’t do at present,  so we can see the differences before and after the balance.​

I do a bilateral 14 muscle assessment to show HOW the stress of not being able to achieve your goal currently affects your energy and physiology.

​We go through the correction process as directed by the PKP finger modes

​​We review the changes made, activities needed at home and future pacing!
